495I hired Muval for an interstate move. Sirius was subcontracted by Muval. I had no choice or say.
I paid for 27m³ of space, not a list of items.
The Sirius contractor refused to load the full volume and tried to intimidate me to avoid measuring the truck load volume ('if you measure, we will not load anything else') as they did not had any markings as to how much I could load. It was all eyeballing. As my cargo was already hostage, I had to accept.
Because of this, I had to spend more hiring a second mover, because not all furniture fit.
The contractor driver was a P-Plater. They broke off a retaining wall post at the origin, and collided the truck (!) with the gate at destination. The collision was not only cosmetic - it damaged gate electronics, which had to be repaired. The retaining wall is still damaged.
Sirius tried to deliver at 4am (!), threatening extra charges if they had to wait until 7am (!).
Muval's 'insurance' does not cover property damage.
Muval's 'insurance' works like that: you pay for an amount (let's say 15K of insurance), and have to assign cost to each individual item to be insured. In case of a claim, they insure that item 'up to' the declared value, after accounting for age depreciation. In my personal opinion, pretty useless.
Sirius acknowledged the collision but offered $100 (seriously) in compensation for the gate crash, and 'the retaining wall post was old anyway' for the broken post. Sirius has a good sense of humor for sure.
Both Muval and Sirius simply refused to 'come and fix it' the damages.
Muval says 'we're only a platform' to excuse itself. But they 'vetted and curated' Sirius. So they vetted and curated but have no responsibility? Interesting.
I'm happy that other people had better experiences, but mine was a nightmare from start to finish. Now I'll have to waste time chasing them in court.
Advice: hire a reputable company, directly. Cheap is expensive.
