Beware: May work slowly intentionally to drive up cost.
Move: Small 1 bedroom apartment into storage 7 minutes away.
Quote: $555 for min 3hr (incl 30min travel time) but told unlikely to take that long since it's such a small job. After arriving, they said it would only take 2 hours (1 hour to load, even easier to unload).
Actual: ~$650. They took 1 hour to load, and I was so happy I withdrew $40 from the ATM to tip them. However, they then took 2 hours to unload, intentionally and surreptitiously working slowly to drive up the cost. At the beginning they took only a handful of unrelated items at a time. They were disorganized and haphazard, putting my stuff in the weirdest spots in storage unit for no reason. If I hadn't prompted them, they would've taken even longer. They almost damaged my TV at one point (it may have indeed been damaged I didn't check), and one of the movers was unprofessional and also resistant to simple instructions when putting my items into storage, so the extra time was not from carefully placing items. Needless to say I didn't tip them in the end. They took a full extra hour.
Further costs: ~$150. Because of their delays, I missed the rental key handover by close of business, costing me a full day of extra rent. Additionally, my family had to take Ubers as they couldn't use the car in time. Also a little creeped out by mover taking screenshots of my banking app from over my shoulder without permission (god knows what else he took pics of), despite me saying I'd send the receipt myself.
I selected this company not because they charged the least but because they sounded the most honest and hassle-free - Mark is very pleasant to speak to over the phone. However that did not translate into their work ethic. I suspect the company is not always that bad but one of the guys they sent was not very pleasant to work with as it turned out and intentionally drove up the cost of a small job by working slowly.

- The only items that needed to be wrapped were the mattress and sofa before storage. No other items were wrapped by the movers. And they arrived at the address with no wrapping available and bought the wrapping themselves from the self-storage warehouse.
- There was no waiting for access to storage, the garage was wide open and they began unloading immediately as per my instructions. We arrived shortly after and they were still unloading the truck. I had already arranged the storage space the day before so it was ready to go.
- I am sure your team is very professional but this particular set of movers, specifically the blond one, was unprofessional and it became clear that he was intentionally working slowly to max out the time. No matter which way you slice it, a 1-hour load-up cannot take 2 hours to unload if the workers are honest.
- I can tell you that the items were not placed in an organised way, they were haphazard and quite careless especially with boxes. I let this go.
- The instructions I gave were very minimal and simple except where something would cause long term damage (boxes being placed on surfaces with no support, meaning the furniture would bend over time due to load. I do not believe my instructions cost more than 2 minutes of their time, and I am being generous. Given it's a '2 hour job', an extra 2 minutes cannot account for an entire extra hour of 'work'.
- The TV was at one point almost placed with the screen facing into an object that was jutting out, which would have damaged it. The work was unusual for a professional service.
- The mover was standing above me while my banking app was open and before I knew it he had snapped a photo. Hovering over someone while they are handling sensitive banking details is just bad manners. I told him I would send the receipt but he did it anyway.

I don’t usually leave reviews, but after using Giraffe Removals five times in the past two years, I feel like I’ve got a pretty solid benchmark.
These guys are hands down the best movers I’ve worked with across Sydney. Every move has been smooth, on time, and handled with real care. No damage, no stress, no messing around. They show up ready to go, work efficiently, and actually take pride in what they do, which is rare in this space.
Whether it was a small move or something more involved, the consistency has been the standout. Same level of professionalism every single time. Good communication, fair pricing, and just an all-round reliable team you can trust with your stuff.
If you’re moving anywhere around NSW and want it done properly, Giraffe Removals are the only ones I’d recommend.

2nd move with Giraffe. These guys are amazing - fast and professional. Impeccable service - a team of 3 moved a household of 4 adults / 3 bdrm house (no appliances) in under 5 hours / one attic room with stairs at each house Will definitely use again. Highly recommend.
