We recently moved to the USA from Australia. We researched and found a moving company (OSS World Wide Movers) to transport all of our belongings from Australia to the USA.

We left Australia on 21st of April 2025.

We read all of the terms and conditions before we accepted any quotes from them and agreed to a price ($5,738.00). This price included door-to-door transport of over 50 boxes. Our belongings were picked up by OSS World Wide Movers on 7th of April 2025.

We were told many times that the price was based on volume of items and were never told that weight of items was a factor. We were extremely careful about what we packed in the boxes. We obviously wanted to pack items that were not replaceable once we moved to the USA. Personal items and memory items cannot be replaced. We did not pack any furniture but did pack kitchen items such as pots and pans, and plates, bowls etc. We packed books in smaller boxes to make sure they were not too heavy to carry. We purchased two types of boxes from OSS World Wide Movers and we only used these boxes. Books and heavier items went into smaller boxes.

We were assigned a ‘Relocation Consultant’ by OSS and my wife asked her many times about the weight of the boxes and my wife was told that as long as the moving guys can pick up the boxes, they were fine. At no time were we told that the was a weight limit or that extra changes would occur at any time in regards to weight.

We are now in the USA and have finally been informed that our boxes have made it to the USA and are in New York at a storage facility. We live 900+ miles from New York.

Schumacher Cargo Logistics is the name of the company that has our belongings. They sent us a bill on September 10th 2025 for $1,776.00 USD ($2,658.84 AUD) because of excessive weight of our belongings.

This of course came as a complete surprise to us because we paid for door-to-door service from Australia to Tennessee, USA and were never once told that there was a weight limit on our goods.

We contacted OSS World Wide Movers and after not receiving an answer from them for a couple of days we finally received an email to tell us that our matter was being reviewed by the management at OSS World Wide Movers. We did not hear from them again for another couple of days and after calling them, leaving messages and then finally getting the permission to speak to the manager of the company, he told us that he would look into it but we would still have to pay the bill for the release of our belongings. He said that they don’t normally worry about weight limits at their end but sometimes their associates in the USA add extra charges for haulage. I told him that this was not part of the quote and that I expected ‘door-to-door’ delivery as was agreed upon. He said he would look into it but ultimately, he wouldn’t do much about it because the charge was from an American company, not OSS World Wide Movers. I reiterated that we would not pay the extra amount that we are now being asked for by Schumacher Cargo Logistics and that I expected OSS World Wide Movers to cover this charge and delivery our belongings.

I re-read all of the terms and conditions, contracts and quotes that we have and there is no mention of extra charges for weight or even any mention of weight of boxes. Every conversation we have had with ‘Relocation Consultant’ by OSS was only in regards to volume of the boxes, never the weight of the boxes.

I would STRONGLY, STRONGLY recommend staying away from OSS!!!

Do not trust them. They lie and hold your belongings ransom and demand money at the other end which you are not told about in the original quote.

We had a terrible, terrible experience and would never use them again.

I cannot stress enough that they are not an honest company.

DO NOT TRUST THEM!!

It's fair to say moving country is a very daunting experience and I had no idea where to start! I contacted multiple companies but OSS stood out from the start - knowledgeable and friendly staff ([Name removed by Sirelo]), easy and clear to understand process, and step by step support. I found it very hard to understand the volume of goods I would be transporting but [Name removed by Sirelo] came to my home to complete a survey which also gave me a quote based on additional optional goods which was super helpful. My survey was also 100% accurate and the price / volume quoted from the survey was what was packed and shipped. The packers who came to my home were extremely efficient and professional, and I was super impressed with their service. The communication was good once my goods were uplifted and arrived in the UK in a reasonable timeframe. From there, customs clearance took a couple of weeks (expected) and the delivery process in the UK was simple and efficient. OSS also helped me arrange to transport my puppy via JetPets and they were fantastic too. All in all, I couldn't be happier with the service provided and would strongly recommend OSS to anyone making an international move. Special thanks to [Name removed by Sirelo] who was super helpful along the way and answered all my silly questions with kindness and patience!Read more

We moved internationally 4 times within 5 years. Every time with OSS and I can't praise them enough. Communication is excellent. [Names removed by Sirelo] have been amazing at answering all questions. Then the packing and unpacking teams. [Names removed by Sirelo] and their colleagues have been AMAZING. In our last move, we found out that our bed didn't fit upstairs. The team helped us swap bedrooms (side tables, chest of drawers, beds) without complaint and very efficiently.

International moves are challenging, but we are glad we had OSS guide us through the process and deliver an impeccable service.

Thanks guys!

BEWARE! We shipped household furniture back to Indonesia. We paid A$12k for door-to-door service. Once in Indonesia OSS passes off the logistics to its 'partner' company AGS Indonesia who sent us ANOTHER invoice for A$3k which they claimed was for local port charges, storage and truck delivery in order to get our furniture delivered. When we complained to OSS they pointed to their small print about 'extra charges' being likely at the destination. Essentially, OSS passes off responsibility once they have got your money and does not care what happens at the destination. This business practice means OSS does not get involved in the corruption, extortion and 25% 'extra costs' customers experience at the destination. We have moved across continents and countries for work multiple times and have used other global shipping companies and never encountered this practice before, we pay the quote and the shipping is delivered door-to-door. There should not be 25% extra charges if the 'worldwide mover' handles everything smoothly. Our advice is AVOID this company and choose another global shipping operator.Read more

Hi J
Thank you for reaching out with your concerns. We appreciate the opportunity to clarify the charges and address the points raised in your review.
All international shipments are subject to Customs clearance, and clearance times will vary. Indonesia has a complex customs process, which will at times lead to unforeseen delays and associated charges such as detention (container rental charges) and demurrage (wharf storage) fees. which can be expensive.

If a container is held by Customs at the port beyond the free time period, the port will apply storage charges until the container is removed from the port. The port operator would argue that ports cannot function if congested with containers, but it is a bitter bill to swallow when the hold is applied by Customs preventing our partners from collecting it. The same could and does happen in Australia, the USA, or many other destinations but more developed countries tend to have more transparent procedures.

Likewise, the shippin g lines offer a period of free time on the use of a container before it must be returned to them for use by other customers. Once this free time is exhausted daily rental charges apply. The quantum of these costs will be determined by the time taken by Customs authorities to clear the consignment, unfortunately for obvious reasons this timeframe is outside of our control.

Our quotation provides for known charges at the destination, but it would not be appropriate or fair to ask clients to pay for potential costs in advance when these costs may not occur. In your case, an additional fee was incurred due to your delivery location not being serviceable by a container truck. A shuttle fee, like detention and demurrage charges are general exclusions from all moving contracts.

There should be no surprises for you in relation to these charges as our quotation not only listed these items as exclusions but made highlighted notes on the first page of the proposal under the heading "Additional Charges" stating:

Likely to apply: Shuttle charges in case of difficult road access to the residence address that requires the goods to be reloaded into a smaller shuttle truck. This will apply for around 80% of the residences: 200 USD/20ft (incl. VAT)

Likely to apply: Shipping Line Demurrage & Detention (combined) and related administration charges, to be billed back as per actual receipt. Port storage charges and related administration charges (est. USD 175-325/20ft)

We understand that unexpected costs can be frustrating, and we strive to be transparent about potential additional charges. The charges were applied were based on actual costs incurred, and receipts from the shipping line and wharf authority have been provided to you as verification.

While we respect your perspective, the characterisation of our business practices are not an accurate reflection of the service and support provided.

We remain available to assist and provide any additional documentation you may require.

Regards

I wouldn’t suggest going with OSS Movers unless you enjoy unfriendly customer service, logistical nightmares, and a pure lack of care and support from the company.

Let’s begin with how it started, initial movers came over to our apartment. Mind you this is an international move, so a pretty big deal as far as logistics. Movers come in, unfriendly as can be, and just start rudely packing out materials into the box. Not folding, just stuffing them in.

After that awful experience, we’re bombarded with more forms to fill out on top of what we thought we already provided.

Then the kicker of the entire ordeal, my shipment gets held in customs because they didn’t include the proper form. My shipment was stuck for a week while OSS did absolutely nothing. I had to intervene, resign and print forms, and basically do it all myself.

I would NEVER recommend this awful company.

Hi D E,
We appreciate the feedback and basically dropped the ball here. We sincerely apologise and agree that your experience did not meet our expected service standards. Professionalism is central to OSS World Wide Movers, and we regret that our crew’s conduct fell short. They will be counselled and retrained to prevent this in the future.
We understand that paperwork requirements can be frustrating. While customs documentation is necessary, we should have communicated the process more clearly.
We value your feedback and will use it to improve our processes. Thank you for bringing this to our attention—we will do better.
Regards
