What is the best advice you would give to customers?
Their response is to deny any responsibility, stating that they are not 'contractually obliged' to use the original packaging. Their default argument is that additional insurance would have addressed this, however the insurance is aimed at damage that occurs by accident or outside of control, whereas in this instance the choice not to use the properly designed protection provided was their deliberate one, despite being instructed to do so.
They were not the cheapest option, were late on the actual delivery schedule and damaged the property to boot!
Woeful service and a very poor representation of the industry.
