We booked allied to do our interstate move from Sydney to Gold Coast despite the over $6000 price. We did this due to their apparent professionalism, the promise of a move coordinator and the fact that they offered an ‘essentials’ delivery package to our temporary accommodation while we were waiting for the keys to our new house. We also paid an extra $500 in order to schedule a Saturday delivery to give us time over a long weekend to unpack the house before starting work.
They disappointed us in the following ways:
Leaving a full drawer full of pots and pans and ironing board in the apartment we were moving out of which we then had to arrange collection of the following day
Not treating our essentials package in any way different than other items in the move
The ‘move coordinator’ failing to respond to our emails or phone calls and not updating us about the move process
When we proactively checked what time the movers would be arriving with our things for our contractually agreed move in date we were sent a poorly worded three line email saying that they would be unable to move us in until 6 days later and inquiring as to if this was ok - leaving us without accomodation or belongings as we were due to check out of our temporary accomodation the day of the move in
Obviously this was not ok, and the co-ordinator then failed to ever communicate with us again, despite multiple phone calls and emails
Through tracking down the local franchises phone number we were eventually able to move that date forward so it was only 4 days later.
We were transferred to the move co-ordinators supervisor who asked us to wait till they had completed an internal analysis of what went wrong before talking about any compensation.
This time came and went, with multiple emails and phone calls again ignored we set a deadline for filing a ACCC complaint and civil claim. This time went past as well without any communications so both were prepared and filed.
After eventually agreeing to move us in 4 days after the initial date, the movers chipped our brand new stairs (huge chunk taken out) and dented the new walls
Eventually more than 2 weeks later, one of the local affiliates managers escalated our issue to the VP of APAC who apologized and agreed to refund the extra $500 we had paid for a planned Saturday move in day (ended up being the Wednesday) and the price of our additional accommodation.
We did eventually (6 weeks after the move) get this money refunded and the damage to the stairs and wall were repaired 2 weeks after the move in date.
The litany of failures in this process was astounding for a company which prides themselves on being able to deliver intercontinental moves. While of course mistakes will happen its more important how you deal with them. In this case, it seemed the default was to avoid and hope it went away.Overall this was a horrendously dissapointing experience. In no way would we ever recommend allied to anyone else nor would we use them again.

Missing items . No updates unless you ring them. Very nice to start but when complaining about missing items they were very rude. My friends shipment had to be taken to storage before she found a permanent address and before they could be unpacked. The boxes had to be signed for at this stage . They claim they should have been unpacked while in storage and checked which is ridiculous as they had to be moved again. Because they weren't unpacked in storage and the boxes were signed for, they say she can't make an insurance claim. Very angry and disappointed. they finally gave her the name of the insurance company they use but didn't know their address. Very unprofessional. She doesn't have email but I have been the email contact .

The people I have interacted with at Allied Pickford were all personable and professional. They answered questions in a timely fashion, helped me through the customs process and on the day of packing and loading of the truck they were super quick but still took care.

They are so bad at their jobs, it makes me angry they are somehow the main shipping coming in Aus. I've had the unfortunate experience of using them four times.
They do not do their basic jobs. They're the worst communicators. Not only do they not provide updates they don't reply to emails. They lose forms you've already sent and filled in. They ignore your shipping until you contact them asking what's going on.
We also used their packing service and they wrapped one bottle of nail varnish into a ft worth of wrapping. Meaning in the end there were THREE times the amount of boxes then there should have been.
They also didn't pack what was asked and left valuable items behind that were not able to be recovered.
How they're still in business is beyond me. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

The office staff in Brisbane were rude, lazy and in my opinion bitchy. I constantly had to call them about what was happening and her excuse was she was too busy and got a hundred emails a day and didn't have time to check every single email. Considering she was our consultant and we were supposed to be moving in 10 days I would have thought we would be on her radar. Her lack of communication was unprofessional. Of course when I asked to speak to a manager I was in the wrong. She said I made her cry. Get a job where you can cope!
Pictures were damaged as they only had one piece of paper between them so hooks rubbed on next frame ruining nearly every one
Fridge looked like it had been kicked across the Tasman and of course there was an excuse to not pay full replacement as that is what we got

The packing was shocking either items were over wrapped and packed,ie two to three items in a box mainly full of paper and my paintings were just covered in to layers of card board with more than one painting in eash pack with nothing between them,soa few paints got scratched they used to have special boxes for paintings.My antique table either handled or stored roughly as all the legs were almost falling off, cost $300 to get repaired our tv stand was squashed the timber shattered totally broken.look I could go on!!!!! Sadly we could not claim insurance as we had our possessions in storage until we bought our home in NZ and the time frame 90 days had expired.
