We recently moved from Sydney to Hobart and used Bass Strait Furniture Removals, and I genuinely can’t recommend them highly enough — especially John.
From start to finish, the experience was seamless. They didn’t just move furniture; they carefully packed up and transported our entire life with an incredible level of care, organisation, and professionalism. Everything arrived in Hobart exactly as it left Sydney, and the unpacking and placement at the other end was just as thoughtful and efficient.
A special mention also has to go to Amy, who we dealt with over the phone throughout the process. She was incredibly prompt, organised, and on top of every detail, which made the planning and coordination feel effortless and stress-free.
What really set the experience apart, though, was the people. John and the team were calm, professional, and reassuring throughout what is normally a very stressful process. On top of that, they were genuinely great company — friendly, respectful, and easy to be around, which made a long move feel far less overwhelming.

John was amazing the whole way through. He moved our items from Tassie to Sunshine Coast Qld with only 2 days notice as we ran out of space in our trailer. Nothing was a problem and the price was great as well. The contractors who picked up our things were very polite and helpful. Everything arrived in time and nothing was damaged. We would use Bass Sraight Removals again any day.

We did the normal thing and rang around for quotes to move our household from Cairns to Penguin door to door. We’d investigated the self-pack container option as well, but wanted to see what the difference would be. After reading so many Facebook comments about Bass Strait Removalists, I gave John a call. Communications were excellent, prompt and helpful. I estimated our load to be around 25 - 30m3 and got our quote almost instantly. The difference between self pack container and full uplift and delivery was negligible, so to save all the lifting and carrying down 17 steps we booked. We didn’t have room for the big semi so our driver Nathan and offsider Daniel hired a smaller truck to ferry everything to the big truck. By the way, these guys are brilliant, just absolutely lovely blokes! Within maybe three hours everything was done! We drove down - Cairns to Penguin and at exactly the day and time promised, our furniture arrived. Nothing broken, all care taken and simply wonderful service. We went over the capacity I’d originally thought and had a slight adjustment to the quoted price but it still came in at a very, very affordable price considering the distance, hire of the smaller truck and delays due to flooding in FNQ at that time. Consider no one else for your move, just ring, book and relax! These guys are GOOD! Heaven forbid we ever do such a big move again, but wherever we may move to next, Bass Strait Removals will get our business!Read more
