As a consequence of the absence of communication with us and a delay of at least 72 hours, we were left in self-isolation in our new home without a fridge, clothing, cleaning products, facilities to wash clothes, furniture we require for comfort and for working from home, etc. – that is, bare essentials. Groceries went bad. We had to buy various items online for immediate delivery to get by in an empty home.

Our initial request for a quote submitted to Singh Movers indicated we would like a pick-up date on Tuesday 24 August. At Singh Movers’ request, the pick-up date was changed to Monday 23 August 2021. The delivery date confirmed with us was Tuesday 24 August. The total quoted cost was $2000.
Upon completion of an itemised list, which had a few extra items than those provided for the initial quote—such as a light-weight Ozito lawn mower—we were pleased that the final price Singh Movers confirmed in writing was $1800. We were asked to pay one third, $600, by bank transfer. Singh Movers received this payment promptly, as we were eager to have all arrangements for our move in place.
On 23 August 2021 at 2:28pm, during the scheduled pick-up time frame, I received a phone call informing me that the pick-up would have to be postponed until Thursday 26 August between 12-4pm. The delivery would have to be delayed until Friday 27 August. This was an issue for us, because we planned for carpets to be cleaned at our rental property after the removalists had walked through the house. We were also disappointed about the consequences for us in self-quarantine outlined above. The male staff member on the phone was unapologetic. He informed us the delay was related to another customer with more volume than they expected and, as a result, there was insufficient space in their truck. During this call, the man on the phone even suggested he would like to increase the quoted price by $200, despite Singh Movers’ failure to provide a timely service and communicate effectively with us.
On 26 August, the rescheduled pick-up date, the removalists failed to arrive between 12pm and 4pm. They arrived instead at 5pm. There was no proactive communication with us from Singh Movers, but rather we had to chase down information on their removalists’ whereabouts and estimated arrival time. Their delayed arrival seriously inconvenienced a relative who awaited their arrival from 2pm onwards during a state-wide lockdown, because we needed someone to ensure the rental property was clean after they completed their work.
Upon completion of the pick-up on 26 August, my relative was informed that the removalists would drive through the night and arrive at our new home in Adelaide in the morning. This did not occur and we were not informed about the change of plan in advance. Instead, at 10:48am on 27 August, we received a call stating that the removalists would arrive between 5-7pm. The female employee on the phone was unapologetic about the change of plans.
At 7:05pm, we contacted Singh Movers as, once again, the removalists failed to arrive within the agreed upon timeframe. We were offered a call back “in two minutes.” At 7:48pm, we received a call back letting us know our belongings would arrive at our home “in 20 minutes” – which did not occur. We confirmed over the phone that the price would remain, as confirmed in writing, at $1800.
Upon arrival, the removalists appear to have been instructed to demand an EFTPOS payment prior to unloading their truck. We were reluctant to do so, because the delivery should have been contactless and we were not given an explanation as to why a bank transfer was unacceptable. At this moment, we also had to enter into another discussion with somebody over the phone about the increase in price. Essentially, we were blackmailed into paying more than quoted in order to take possession of our belongings.
By the time the delivery was completed, it was 10pm. The late delivery time on a Friday night was a disruption to new neighbours. It was noisy and a driveway was blocked preventing a neighbour from parking. It also meant that our belongings were left in a dark sideway of our property, little of which could be safely moved into the home until the next morning.
Our experience of Singh Movers’ service was a disappointment all round. Don’t believe the false promises made on their website about quality service, 100% customer satisfaction, no hidden costs, delivery on time, and a stress-free move. And don’t expect Singh Movers to attempt to resolve problems of their own creation.Read more
Worst dealings in customer service my husband and I have ever come across. Singh Movers did not deliver our belongings to our address as their truck was 'too big' . Instead of reorganizing a delivery or at least a refund we were forced to have our belonging dropped off at a friends house and had to use a different company to complete the job . Singh Movers refused to respond and have not even acknowledged us They have taken our money and provided an incomplete service that left us further out of pocket. This is fraudulent and I have applied for our case to be investigated.
