I highly recommend M.I.B. Removals if you are looking for a professional, easy to work with people. AAA
To start on a positive note, the team arrived on time and were polite at the beginning. However, the situation quickly deteriorated. One staff member became highly temperamental, swearing frequently and complaining about the difficulty of disassembling, assembling, and lifting the furniture. Shockingly, this individual was even smoking weed on the job.
Prior to the move, I had inquired about moving an oversized lounge piece via a balcony lift. Despite sending measurements and photos, I was assured it would fit, and if not, they would handle it. When it didn’t fit, they claimed they couldn’t perform the balcony lift as they didn’t have the necessary equipment, leaving me to call another company. This wasted nearly an hour of my time.
The team’s organization was the worst I’ve seen. Despite clear instructions, they misplaced furniture and boxes, creating an unnecessary mess. For example, they put shelving units and the TV in the wrong places and left boxes in between, making it impossible to rearrange.
I had specified that one set of tables and chairs should go on each balcony, but both sets ended up on the same balcony. Additionally, they refused to take down furniture that wouldn’t fit in the lift, wasting more time.
To make matters worse, they arrived without power tools, wasting more time as they used my tools. They also forgot about furniture stored in the basement, requiring constant reminders from me.
Although I initially hired three men, they later insisted on adding a fourth due to the workload, but there were long periods where they weren’t working efficiently. I felt compelled to micromanage them, even helping with packing and moving, which I expected them to handle professionally.
One staff member’s attitude was particularly appalling, constantly complaining about the difficulty of the job and making rude remarks about my furniture. They even tried to charge me $240 for boxes and packing paper, contrary to our agreement. When I refused to pay until I spoke to someone, the staff member reacted aggressively and walked away.
The same staff member complained about my cat meowing, which I had already lock in the bathroom to prevent disruption. Additionally, some shelves from a shelving unit were missing, possibly left in their truck.
To add to the frustration, they didn’t even try to put a mattress protector on my mattress. They reluctantly did it only when I specifically asked for it. They were also dragging it on the floor on the end that doesn’t have any cover on.
In the end, the move cost me $3,000 (they wanted $3,500, but I refused to pay for the disputed packing materials). This experience was worse than hiring an amateur from Airtasker. I question the authenticity of their positive reviews because this was an incredibly unprofessional team.
I rarely complain and appreciate genuine effort, but I feel taken advantage of. The job was not done properly and was certainly not worth $3,000 let alone $3500. Avoid this company if you value your time, money, and sanity.Read more
