We are moving to Australia following a professional opportunity and we decided to bring the most of our stuffs with us.
We started searching the web and we found several companies providing this service plus a site giving other contacts so we submitted our requirements to all of them collecting about 10 different offers.
Some providers quoted having as basis only our emails while others either conducted a physical inspection or a Zoom one giving us much more confidence in the reliability of the submitted quotation.

We selected Gosselin as they gave us a very detailed explanation of all the required steps and the requirements in order to provide the service at its best. They offered a 20′ FCL – not all providers offered it, allowing us eventually to have more space at the last second.
In terms of cost (€/m3) it was as well the cheaper one still providing us a well described service both at the collecting place and at destination (this last part still to be verified as my goods are still on their way). They also provided insurance service, explained it well and presented a reasonable cost.

Deployed personnel was supposed to arrive in between 8-8:30 am and at 7:45 they were already ringing my apartment’s bell.
In first place, a team of 3 people arrived and while one of them was bringing the material inside the apartment the other two asked to perform a quick visit to understand what had to be moved so to eventually have time to get additional required packing material.
They worked room by room so to be more effective and they did only a quick break to rest in the morning (after a couple of hours) and they packed everything by lunch time. After lunch they started moving all boxed and furniture to the truck and by 4 pm everything was done.

Generally speaking the overall cost is important but definitively it’s not the most important factor. I personally considered the €/m3 as it gives a more precise indication. The type of offered container is essential to understand the time required for the goods to arrive and to ensure the smoothest custom process. It must be very well understood the customs clearance procedure to check what can be or cannot be moved and what are the risks in terms of demurrages in case of delayed inspection.
Depending on the start point and the arrival one it is important as well to ensure all required services are considered (shuttle, restricted areas, etc).
